Spring is in the Air at Home Gig→

Today we can officially bid farewell to the winter blues and welcome, warmly, the arrival of spring! It might still be cold, but the evenings are longer and Home Gig is optimistic that spring is in the air ~

 At Home Gig spring is about getting back outdoors, taking weekend mini-breaks and planning for our summer photo shoots, installations and special events. The fact that the weather is warming means that we'll soon be able to actually wear our favorite spring trends rather than lusting after them in our closets ~ pastel rain boots, sorbet colored jeans and bright colored corduroys are what we are excited about.

This month, together with the warmer temps and extra sunlight, Home Gig is inspired by seeing the fruits of our labors grace the pages of  Architectural Record ~ we hope you will be inspired too!

At Home Gig we understand the value of great photography, we feel this investment goes a long way in your marketing mix. Whether for your portfolio and web content, advertisement, competition submissions, editorial matter, or marketing collateral; with good photography comes the opportunity to build your brand.  

Having worked with some of the best architectural and design photographers in the business, we are experts at strategizing, forecasting, directing and investing in photography. Indeed, there are a lot of moving parts, and obstacles that get in the way, but when planned and organized properly, the results of a good photo shoot will leave you armed with one of your best marketing assets.

When it came to photographing Duin Huis in Aquinnah we were fortunate to work together with architectural photographer Brian Vanden Brink on this two-day shoot. The team experimented with animated objects to suggest lifestyle elements and to expand marketing possibilities and editorial reach.  Lauren and Eivar were on hand to model, stage and style this jewel of a home. As a result, the editors approved, and we were delighted to learn that Architectural Record featured Duin Huis in Aquinnah in their winter 2014 online issue.

From scouting, documenting, information gathering and writing to scripting, styling and staging the shots, this photo shoot was a successful endeavor and allowed us to produce an eye-catching submission, earning the recognition this project deserves. Check out some of Home Gig’s behind the scene photos:

All You Need Is Love

At Home Gig we are filling our February days pursuing our passions with new and creative projects.  From detailing and styling to creating marketing campaigns, we are committed to practicing all the things we love both personally and professionally. For Lauren, it has been consulting for our clients at Gay Head Realty on their website re-design and development, digital assets and content management.  

Later this month Lauren sets up her office at the Duck Inn in Aquinnah to re-style and detail several of the guests suites in preparation for the 2014 season.  

In addition to taking winter walks on the beach with Cali, Lauren has been pursuing her passion for meditative art with the study of Zentangle, while honoring her daily commitment to her yoga practice at the Yoga Barn. 

What is Zentangle you ask?

The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Almost anyone can use it to create beautiful images. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being.

Eivar has been eagerly working on the custom design and collateral pieces for the upcoming wedding of the future Mr. and Mrs. Ceballos aka Raul and Luisa –from website preparation,  wedding invitation, wayfinding for the event and other accoutrements that Eivar can think of. This has been a fun project for her to manage and is what she does best!

Eivar continues to work out daily and has signed up for her first 10K this spring – let the training begin!

Cynthia has been keeping busy using her skills at SEO  (search engine optimization) for our clients and Home Gig’s social media programs. We are grateful to have her skillfulness and expertise on hand!  She continues to practice – Mind, Body and Soul as well as work on Every Soul – She is doing a great job keeping Home Gig balanced!

Baby its Cold Outside

Here on Martha’s Vineyard with January’s arrival, so are frigid temperatures. At Home Gig we understand the value of keeping the fire burning in our airtight woodstove during these unforgiving winter months. A steady supply of firewood can help offset heating costs and is a renewable resource.

Ordered locally from Lickity Split Logs, come mid October, our bounty of well-seasoned firewood is delivered  - stacking not included!

Firewood dumped in a heap won't dry and it won't burn well. Stacked properly, a well-built pile provides ventilation and keeps wood from being disposed to molds or fungus.

We know that there is an art and science to stacking firewood; at Home Gig we like to think that there is a spiritual side to it as well.

So duty calls and ‘a stacking we go….

‘"Wood warms you twice ...once when you cut it and again when you burn it." Henry David Thoreau  - He forgot to mention, when you stack it….!

Who wood (would) have thought wood could look so good and keep you warm and toasty?

Assembling wood isn’t our favorite thing to do- but if it looks nice, Home Gig’s creative team thinks it’s worth the effort!

We love the way it looks when we are done and are inspired by the different and ambitious ways that others stack their wood both inside and outside!

Home Gig on the Road!

This past weekend Home Gig saddled up and hit the road to San Antonio, Texas. Our mission was to explore home styling ideas for our clients. During our free time we were able to see the many attractions that this fun city had to offer. Our trip started with our accommodations in the Roy Rogers Suite, a.k.a. “King of the Cowboys,” at the Menger Hotel, one of the oldest and historic hotels in the southwest. Other highlights of our trip included touring the Riverwalk, sightseeing at the Alamo, eating festive Mexican food, and cheering on the San Antonio Spurs, check out the Jumbotron - Home Gig made it! Throughout this short trip we gathered many local artistic and design inspirations to incorporate into our next home styling gig. 

We thank San Antonio for being such a great host to Home Gig! Next stop, “We’ll be keeping it weird in Austin, Texas!”

Dreaming of a White Christmas at Home Gig

Happy Holidays from Home Gig! This Holiday season we hope for peace and prosperity for all. At Home Gig we plan on bringing holiday cheer by volunteering with elder services at Windamere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  In addition, we will contribute to Globe Santa, Toys for Tots, and to Veteran Services and our Troops Overseas. We find these acts of kindness leave happiness and heart prints throughout the year. We hope you do too!

This month Home Gig is excited to share with you CALL MAMA, CASHMERICALS AND VELVET CRUSH - our current creative marketing endeavors, inspriations and what we need to get us through a bustling and bright December !

Home Gig creative marketing services is thankful to be working with new client CALL MAMA creating their visual brand identity for their marketing and Kickstarter campaigns. This grass roots company is the brainchild of local entrepreneurs, Katie Dawson, Claire Ganz and Karen Bonnano, who, through like minded thinking are creating an online community and environment dedicated to supporting community through connections and conversations. 

Home Gig designed CALL MAMA’s logo drawn from inspirations from archived 1930’s and 40’s lifestyle magazines; typography, simple graphics and nostalgia which harkens to the core values of this community.

Home Gig - Cashmericals!
