September: What motivates us at Home Gig

Maybe it’s because September is the start of a new school year and that gets embedded in us, but I am all about renewal at this time of year. The air feels crisp and I feel motivated by the smells, the color, the light, the shadows, the cooler temperatures, and new opportunities for Home Gig.

What we’ve been up to

Traditionally September has been the time of year when we like to fill the days with photo shoots. As the summer comes to a close, the crowds have thinned out, and the light and sun offer us the best conditions for a successful shoot. We have been working with photographers David Welch and Frank Rapp producing photo shoots and editorial content with Martha’s Vineyard Magazine and Yankee Barn Homes, while putting the “shine work” on various real estate projects on the South Shore and on Martha’s Vineyard.  From staging & event preparation to various home projects, our team has been hard at work this summer.

Home Gig is excited to see our production and staging efforts reach the international market at Trends Home and Architecture Magazine. Eric Roth photographed this Hutker Architects designed home, which was previously featured in Martha’s Vineyard Magazine. Our work continues to amortize its marketing efforts and this motivates us even more.

Reap the Rewards

This summer Home Gig planted an Organic Victory Garden. It’s proven to be a real Victory by providing us a rich harvest of tomatoes, Concord Grapes, pumpkins, watermelon, and squash.  A labor of love, we feel fortunate for these natural gifts. I see Home Gig jelly/jam and Home Gig tomato sauce in our future.

Influences of Independence

Home Gig can’t help but notice all things around us that are red, white and blue. We love this true Americana vibe this time of year when flags are flying and Four of July Fashion is on! We took the opportunity to photograph what surrounds us in nature that boasts the colors of our American Flag.

We hope you get the chance to celebrate the greatness of our country and all the many freedoms that we have this Independence Day 2013. 

Home Gig solutes all those who have served for our independence - especially our close friends and family members.

Home Gig - On Top Of The World

We are "On Top of The World" after seeing this Truro home we produced for Hutker Architects, made the New England Home Cape and Island's 2013 annual issue!  A glossy 8 page spread with photography by the great Peter Vanderwarker makes the centerpiece of this issue stand out. I must say,  I get chills when I see how amazing the night shots from two different vantage points came out - certainly worth staying for the dusk shots. Architect Matthew Schiffer is shown on the front deck taking in the evening Cape breezes. While Lauren Giglio works the lighting in the guest room. This house evokes the feeling of tree house living in the most lavish ways.  These shoots take great planning and execution - it takes a team and we had a great one!

The Pillars

We loved shooting this home for our new clients Skaala Architects and Mick Lahart from Pensacoult Builders.  This team restored this beautiful Cape House in Sagamore while kepping the integrity of the home. Daffodil Day Weekend

Come and celebrate the arrival of spring “Daffy Style”! 



From early April to mid-May, over three million daffodils of every color, shape and size bloom on Nantucket. Daffodils grace the island’s roadsides, gardens and shop windows with blooms of yellow, orange, white and even pale pink. This blossoming is the focal point of the Annual Daffodil Festival (April 26-28, 2013). Organized and sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the Annual Daffodil Festival is a full-scale celebration of winter’s thaw, joyous for both islanders and visitors alike. Come wear your daffy hat, watch the car parade, have a tailgate picnic and welcome spring! 

The Daffodil Festival’s grand event held on Saturday is the Annual Antique Car Parade, featuring over 100 daffodil-bedecked vintage cars (pre-registration necessary for participation). After winding through town the cars make their way across the island to charming Siasconset. Once there, participants join residents and visitors for the Annual Daffodil Tailgate Picnic. What better way to herald the arrival of spring than an al fresco lunch on the lush lawns of this picturesque village. Picnic fare ranges from elaborate gourmet cuisine served on fine china to box lunches and burgers. Here we joined architect Lyman Perry to prepare the chicken car. Hard to top off last year's ladybug car, but the mission was accomplished.
